Farmer joining us from Austin, Texas, where she teaches in the department of history and African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas. Her new book, Queen Mother, Black Nationalism, Reparations, and the Untold Story of Oddly Moore, is a finalist for the National Book Critic Circle Award and the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History Book Prize. Her first book, Remaking Black Power: How Black Women Transformed an Era, was a finalist for the Stone Book Award, among others.
